Sometimes you need speed, other times you may need stealth. In some cases, bypassing firewalls may be required. Not to mention the fact that you may want to scan different protocols (UDP, TCP, ICMP, etc.). Nmap supports Vanilla TCP connect() scanning, TCP SYN (half open) scanning, TCP FIN, Xmas, or NULL (stealth) scanning, TCP ftp proxy (bounce attack) scanning, SYN/FIN scanning using IP frag THC-Hydra Added 2004-08-30 THC-Hydra - parallized login hacker is available: for Samba, FTP, POP3, IMAP, Telnet, HTTP Auth, LDAP, NNTP, MySQL, VNC, ICQ, Socks5, PCNFS, Cisco and more. Includes SSL support and is part of Nessus. Visit the project web site to download Win32, Palm and ARM binaries. Changes: important bugfix! Samhain Added 2004-04-15 samhain is a daemon that can check file integrity, search the file tree for SUID files, and detect kernel module rootkits (Linux only). It can be used either standalone or as a client/server system for centralized monitoring, with strong (192-bit AES) encryption for client/server connections and the option to store databases and configuration files on the server. For tamper resistance, it supports signed database/configuration files and signed reports/audit logs. It has been tested on Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, and Unixware. C-Kermit Added 2004-04-13 C-Kermit is a combined serial and network communication software package offering a consistent, medium-independent, cross-platform approach to connection establishment, terminal sessions, file transfer, character-set translation, numeric and alphanumeric paging, and automation of communication tasks. Recent versions include FTP and HTTP clients as well as an SSH interface, all of which can be scripted and aware of character-sets. It supports built-in security methods, including Kerberos IV, Kerberos V, SSL/TLS, and SRP, FTP protocol features such as MLSD, and source-code parity with Kermit 95 2.1 for Windows and OS/2. Ethereal Added 2004-03-26 Ethereal is a network protocol analyzer, or "packet sniffer", that lets you capture and interactively browse the contents of network frames. The goal of the project is to create a commercial-quality packet analyzer for Unix, and the most useful packet analyzer on any platform. MailScanner Added 2004-03-01 MailScanner is an Email virus scanner and spam tagger. It supports sendmail and Exim MTAs, and the Sophos, McAfee, F-Prot, F-Secure, CommandAV, InoculateIT, Inoculan 4.x, Kaspersky, RAV, and Panda anti-virus scanners. It supports SpamAssassin for highly successful spam identification. It is specifically designed to handle Denial Of Service attacks. It is very easy to install, and requires no changes at all to your sendmail.cf file. It is designed to be lightweight, and won't grind your mail system to a halt with its load. It can be integrated into any email system, regardless of the software in use. LSH Added 2004-02-09 lsh is an implementation of the SSH protocol version 2. It is under active development. Developer contributions are welcome from both inside and outside the US. Big Brother Added 2004-01-06 Big Brother is a combination of monitoring methods. Unlike SNMP where information is just collected and devices polled, Big Brother is designed in such a way that each local system broadcasts its own information to a central location. Simultaneously, Big Brother also polls all networked systems from a central location. This creates a highly efficient and redundant method for proactive network monitoring. MAT Added 2003-10-28 MAT is an easy-to-use network-enabled UNIX configuration and monitoring tool. It provides an integrated tool for many common system administration tasks, including backups and replication. It includes a warning system for potential system problems, and graphing of many common system parameters. MAT provides many of the tools a system administrator needs during the day, including DNS, NIS, Backups, and Replication. One can run a MAT command on many hosts at once. A simple editor window is provided which can modify a set of machine's configurations in one session. Webmin Usermonitor Added 2003-10-17 Webmin Usermonitor is a Webmin module that allows you to view all user connections to the system which are based on Telnet, SSH, or Samba. It is able to kill a user's connection or send a message to the user. Browse by category |
