testmail
Added 2004-03-01
by c.kruk
testmail is a Perl script that checks email availability at the POP3 server, filters it according to defined rules, and--depending on the selected method--gets the messages to the local mailbox and/or removes it from the server. It uses Perl libnet module and helps you escape from spam.

W3Perl 2.94
Added 2004-02-11
by Laurent Domisse
W3Perl is a Web logfile analyser. All major Web stats are available (referer, agent, session, error, etc.). Reports are fully customisable via configuration files, and there is an administration interface control available.

Process Change Detection System
Added 2003-12-29
by Bart Somers
Process Change Detection System is a script to monitor changes in processes--not to monitor if your Web server is still running, but to see if there are new programs running. When debugging a honeypot logging, you often see that there's an extra inetd running, to open up a backdoor port. Or, less dramatically, people login to a system and "forget" to logout.

Pacemaker
Added 2003-12-24
by David DeLauro
Pacemaker is a dynamic rate-limiting script that watches network traffic and determines which machines are probably abusing your network. Pacemaker catches things like Windows worm scans, port scans, P2P network traffic, and anything else that tries to go beyond the normal number of connections a standard machine should use. The machine needs to abuse the network for two minutes before pacemaker will mark the IP address to be rate-limited. A machine will stay marked for as many minutes as it has abused the network.

Yet Another Advanced Log Analyzer
Added 2003-12-09
by Florian Forster
"yaala" parses logfiles and generates very detailed statistics in HTML format. The information one will get can be selected by using SQL-like expressions, which provide filtering with relational operators (like equal, greater than, less than) as well as regular expressions. It includes input parsers for the Common Log Format (e.g. Apache's access logs), NCSA logs (e.g. Apache's combined logs), Squid access logs, the xferlog format (used by FTP daemons), bind9's query logs, and postfix entries in the maillog.

Anti-Spam SMTP Proxy
Added 2003-10-23
by John Hanna
The Anti-Spam SMTP Proxy (ASSP) Server project aims to create an open source platform independent SMTP Proxy server which implements whitelists and Bayesian filtering to help stop unsolicited commercial email (UCE). Anti-spam tools should be adaptive to new spam and customized for each site's email patterns. This easy to use tool works with any mail transport and achieves these goals requiring no operator intervention after the initial setup phase.

PingScan
Added 2003-10-22
by Matthias Cramer, cramer@freestone.net
PingScan scans networks via ping for reachable hosts. It does DNS lookup and checks for correct forward/reverse entries. You can enter network adressess in CDIR notation or give start and end adresses.

flexbackup
Added 2003-10-14
by Paul Holcomb
flexbackup is a configurable and easy to use Perl-based backup tool, that can backup local files as well as remote machines (using ssh). It allows the backup itself to be made with afio, cpio, tar, dump, star, or pax. It can work with tape drives, on-disk archive files, or on-disk directory trees.

gpgdir
Added 2003-07-28
by Michael Rash
gpgdir is a Perl script that uses the CPAN GnuPG module to encrypt and decrypt directories using a GPG key specified in ~/.gpgdirrc. It supports recursively descending through a directory in order to make sure it encrypts or decrypts every file in a directory and all of its subdirectories. In order to help save space all files are compressed using gzip before being encrypted and decompressed upon decryption. In addition, gpgdir is careful not to encrypt hidden files and directories.

Firewall Tester
Added 2003-07-10
by Andrea Barisani
The Firewall Tester is a tool designed for testing firewalls' filtering policies. It includes an Intrusion Detection System testing feature, along with a packet generator tool and a sniffer. Unlike common firewall testing tools or packet generators, ftester is capable of generating network traffic that will look like real connections to the firewall or IDS system tested, which allows users to test stateful inspection firewalls (like netfilter or ipfilter) and IDS (like snort).
