Steghide is designed to be portable and configurable and features hiding data in bmp, wav and au files, blowfish encryption, MD5 hashing of passphrases to blowfish keys, and pseudo-random distribution of hidden bits in the container data. The GNU Privacy Guard Added 2003-08-26 GnuPG (the GNU Privacy Guard) is GNU's tool for secure communication and data storage. It can be used to encrypt data and to create digital signatures. It includes an advanced key management facility and is compliant with the proposed OpenPGP Internet standard as described in RFC2440. As such, it is meant to be compatible with PGP from NAI, Inc. Because it does not use any patented algorithms, it can be used without any restrictions. wormulon Added 2003-08-14 wormulon is a network traffic monitor based on the slurm backend, intended to be included in the screen hardstatus line. It supports all platforms slurm supports (*BSD, Linux, Solaris, HPUX) and can be used to feed third-party programs like mrtg or rrdtool. sXid Added 2003-08-12 sXid is an all in one suid/sgid monitoring program designed to be run from cron on a regular basis. Basically it tracks any changes in your s[ug]id files and folders. If there are any new ones, ones that aren't set any more, or they have changed bits or other modes then it reports the changes in an easy to read format via email or on the command line. Monitoring Application for Resources and Servers Added 2003-06-16 MARS is a host based system monitoring tool. It contains a distributed agent, SPOT, which is placed on each host. The MARS server can then obtain information about each of the machines the agent is running on, including status, load information, disk activity and memory information. MARS is Java based, and should run on any Unix supporting Java, as well as Microsoft Windows products. pdfcrypt Added 2003-06-12 pdfcrypt allows you to set permissions on a PDF file. For example, you can publish a document without permitting users to print it. The button to print the file will be disabled in the Acrobat Reader application. It can be used as a batch application to set permissions on a large group of PDF files, or as a filter in a Unix pipeline, or within a CGI application. Only binary executables are distributed, but the original Perl source code may be requested. Sophie Added 2003-06-09 Sophie is a daemon which uses 'libsavi' library from Sophos anti-virus vendor (http://www.sophos.com). On startup, Sophie initializes SAPI (Sophos Anti-Virus Interface), loads virus patterns into memory, opens local UNIX domain socket, and waits for someone to connect and instructs it which path to scan. Since the database is loaded in RAM, scanning is very fast. (Note: speed of scanning also depends on SAVI settings and size of the file.) It works on Linux, Solaris (Sparc/x86), HP-UX, and FreeBSD. Shell Intrusion Detection Added 2003-06-09 SID is a Shell Intrusion Detection system. The kernel part plugs into a terminal-processing subsystem and logs hashed terminal lines. The user part reads log entries (hashes), consults a list of allowed entries, and takes appropriate action upon unexpected log entries. Sysmon Added 2003-05-20 Sysmon is a network monitoring tool designed to provide high performance and accurate network monitoring. Currently supported tests include monitoring of SMTP, IMAP, HTTP, TCP, UDP, Radius, NNTP, and POP3 servers. It also includes the ability to ping hosts and routers. Sysmon has the ability to understand real network topologies, including the ability to monitor multiple paths and only report the actual device that is down instead of a router that is down, and all the hosts behind it. PlexCrypt Added 2003-02-20 PlexCrypt protects documents and folders via PKI-based encryption using secured algorithms such as AES, Blowfish, CAST, DES, ElGamal, IDEA, IES, RC4, RC6, RSA, Rijndael, Serpent Skipjack, Twofish, etc. It allows users to encrypt multiple files and folders automatically. PlexCrypt allows users to digital sign documents and folders and use that signature to verify that original document has not been maliciously or accidently altered. It supports MD5WithRSAEncryption, SHA1WithRSA/ISO9796-2, MD2WithRSAEncryption, RIPEMD160WithRSAEncryption, SHA1WithRSAEncryption, RIPEMD160WithRSAEncryption, MD5WithRSA/ISO9796-2, RIPEMD160WithRSA/ISO9796-2, RIPEMD160WithRSA/ISO9796-2 algorithms for digital signatures. PlexCrypt also allows users to archive a set of files and folders in the ZIP format and extract them later. In addition, it allows users to create and manage digital certificates and key-pairs for encryption and digital signatures. Browse by category |
