It supports active and passive dissection of many protocols (even ciphered ones, like SSH and HTTPS). Data injection in an established connection and filtering on the fly is also possible, keeping the connection synchronized. Many sniffing modes were implemented to give you a powerful and complete sniffing suite. Plugins are supported. It has the ability to check whether you are in a switched LAN or not, and to use OS fingerprints (active or passive) to let you know the geometry of the LAN. OS-SIM Added 2004-05-12 OSSIM pretends to unify network monitoring, security, correlation, and qualification in one single tool. It combines Snort, Acid, HotSaNIC, NTOP, OpenNMS, nmap, nessus, and rrdtool to provide the user with full control over every aspect of networking or security. FTimes Added 2004-05-06 FTimes is a system baselining and evidence collection tool. Its primary purpose is to gather and/or develop information about specified directories and files in a manner conducive to intrusion analysis. It was designed to support the following initiatives: content integrity monitoring, incident response, intrusion analysis, and computer forensics. OSIRIS Added 2004-04-27 Osiris is a host integrity management system that can be used to monitor changes to a network of hosts over time and report those changes back to the administrator(s). Currently, this includes monitoring any changes to the filesystems. Osiris takes periodic snapshots of the filesystem and stores them in a database. These databases, as well as the configurations and logs, are all stored on a central management host. When changes are detected, Osiris will log these events to the system log and optionally send email to an administrator. In addition to files, Osiris has preliminary support for the monitoring of other system information including user lists, file system details, kernel modules, and network interface configurations (not included with in this beta release). Data Keeper Added 2004-04-26 Data Keeper is a secure document creation and storage application. It features TwoFish encryption with 256-bit keys generated from user passwords and SHA256, rich text support including images and backgrounds, and support for printing. Documents are automatically encrypted after a user-specified time interval. It is designed for the rapid viewing of encrypted documents, such as when quickly trying to find a password or ID number. radmind Added 2004-04-22 radmind is a suite of Unix command-line tools and a server designed to remotely administer the file systems of multiple Unix machines. At its core, radmind operates as a tripwire. It is able to detect changes to any managed filesystem object, e.g. files, directories, links, etc. However, radmind goes further than just integrity checking: once a change is detected, radmind can optionally reverse the change. Each managed machine may have its own loadset composed of multiple, layered overloads. This allows, for example, the operating system to be described separately from applications. Loadsets are stored on a remote server. By updating a loadset on the server, changes can be pushed to managed machines. C-Kermit Added 2004-04-13 C-Kermit is a combined serial and network communication software package offering a consistent, medium-independent, cross-platform approach to connection establishment, terminal sessions, file transfer, character-set translation, numeric and alphanumeric paging, and automation of communication tasks. Recent versions include FTP and HTTP clients as well as an SSH interface, all of which can be scripted and aware of character-sets. It supports built-in security methods, including Kerberos IV, Kerberos V, SSL/TLS, and SRP, FTP protocol features such as MLSD, and source-code parity with Kermit 95 2.1 for Windows and OS/2. Telconi Terminal for Cisco IOS Added 2004-04-07 Telconi Terminal is an unique network management application with interactive full-screen configuration editing, browsing, help facility support, debugging, and more. It focuses on common Cisco IOS functionality present with any hardware or software configuration, and complements the command line interface with a rich set of features. It is intended for users with knowledge of Cisco IOS, and is designed to work with any IOS-based device, such as routers and switches. Enigmail Added 2004-04-05 Enigmail is a "plugin" for the mail client of Mozilla and Netscape 7.x which allows users to access the authentication and encryption features provided by the popular GnuPG software. Enigmail can encrypt/sign mail when sending, and can decrypt/authenticate received mail. It can also import/export public keys. Enigmail supports both the inline PGP format and the PGP/MIME format, which can be used to encrypt attachments. Enigmail is cross-platform, although binaries are supplied only for a limited number of platforms. Enigmail uses inter-process communication to execute GPG to carry out encryption/authentication. Cryptonit Added 2004-03-22 Cryptonit is a client side cryptographic tool which allows you to encrypt/decrypt and sign/verify files with PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) certificates.
