The password collection is stored in an encrypted file, protected by a master-password. Chwinpw Added 2004-04-21 Chwinpw is a small command line utility that can securely change passwords on remote windows machines. It can help to enforce a higher degree of security, by periodic password maintenance of vital accounts. Chwinpw can be run from a logon script or from a central location. It is also possible to instruct chwinpw to make bulk changes. Ked Password Manager Added 2004-03-01 Ked Password Manager helps to manage large amounts of passwords and related information, and simplifies the tasks of searching and entering password data. It is written as an extensible framework, which allows you to plug in custom password database backends and custom user interface frontends. pwsafe Added 2004-02-13 pwsafe is a command line password database program for Unix. It is compatible with Counterpane's Win32 Password Safe software. It can also copy the passwords into the X selection and clipboard, but it doesn't open a visible window. The encrypted password database uses the same format as Password Safe 1.9.x. The database is encrypted with blowfish, and a single passphrase decrypts it all. MyPasswordSafe Added 2004-01-14 MyPasswordSafe is a straightforward, easy-to-use password manager that uses the Blowfish algorithm to store encrypt passwords. It uses the same file format as Password Safe. CPU - Change Password Utility Added 2004-01-12 CPU is an LDAP user management tool based on FreeBSD's pw(8). CPU allows you to add or delete users from an LDAP directory as defined by RFC 2307 . You may use MD5, SHA1, or Crypt for a hashing scheme. CPU also allows you to take existing users from a Unix-style passwd file and import those users into the directory. Figaro's Password Manager Added 2003-12-29 Figaro's Password Manager (FPM) is a GNOME application that allows you to securely store your passwords, which are encrypted with the blowfish algorithm. It allows you to copy passwords or usernames to the clipboard or primary selection. If a password is for a Web site, FPM can keep track of the URLs of your login screens and can automatically launch your browser. You can also teach FPM to launch other applications. FPM can sort your passwords into categories. Finally, it has a password generator that can help you choose good passwords. Distributed John Added 2003-11-19 DJohn is a parallel password cracker. It consists of a server that coordinates the work among several clients; the cracking in itself is done by John the Ripper. Ruby/Password Added 2003-11-12 Ruby/Password is a set of useful methods for creating, verifying, and manipulating passwords. It includes an interface to CrackLib, a library commonly used for checking password strength. It is intended to be used by system administrators who need to write Ruby programs that prompt for, generate, verify, and encrypt passwords. Secure Data Manager Added 2003-11-10 Secure Data Manager (SDM) is a full-featured password manager application written entirely in Java.
