It is not intended to be a full-featured proxy, nor is it intended for every-day use. It is however a useful learning and debugging tool allowing you to see exactly what data a particular program is sending across a network. It can be used as a general purpose HTTP proxy and will automatically change the host that it communicates with when used this way. Otherwise, the remote host is fixed, and suitable for programs that don't know anything about proxies, such as telnet, irc, etc. Output of the proxy is to stdout and may be redirected to a log file. The output shows the data in both ascii and hex as well as the direction of the data (using little arrows). If you choose the "color" option, the "sent data" is sent in a different direction than "received data." ppp-in-telnet Added 2001-10-22 pppit allows one to tunnel through a firewall which only allows proxy telnet, such as SWAN. tproxy Added 2001-10-22 tproxy is a user-space tcp proxy daemon, which has support for firewall transit via telnet proxy, and transmission of out-of-band data. RBA Proxy Filter Added 2001-10-22 Essentially a plug-in for Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 that lets you assign lists of allowed websites to different NT groups. Often you need to give some of your clients access to a well defined set of webservers without giving them full internet access. RBAProxy lets you define up to 15 different lists and assign them to NT groups. SSL-Proxy Added 2001-10-22 The SSL-Proxy for WindowsNT acts as proxy between your browser and the webserver. The proxy supports http and https. The proxy allows client auth helps you to break SSL traffic for analysis. This helps you for SSL-only websites to figure out HEADER, REQUESTS, COOKIES. etc. Compass needs the proxy for application security checks. Have fun. tcpxd Added 2001-10-22 tcpxd is a TCP/IP relay or proxy, allowing a connection to a port on a system to be forwarded to another port on any other system. It is useful for firewalls and service relocations, and is small, simple, and fast. It's also easier to learn than netcat and supports TCP_NODELAY, alternate local ports, partial connection closures, and non-blocking connects. vgproxy 0.9.1 Added 2001-10-22 vgproxy is a generic proxy run from inetd. Once configured in inetd.conf, it forwards connections between a specified remote host:port and you, using a given virtual host for outgoing connections. www_proxy 0.0.3 Added 2001-10-22 www_proxy is a non-caching HTTP proxy with capability of modifying the User-Agent field. It has customizable content filterig capablity and unlike most proxy servers, it logs the contents of the body of a POST request, not just the header. This tool is handy for debugging CGI scripts, search engine submission programs, bypassing problematic routes and firewalls, and for getting rid of junk HTML content. IP Relay Added 2001-10-22 ip_relay can shape the TCP traffic forwarded through it to a specified bandwidth and allow this specified bandwidth to be changed on-the-fly. Multiple data streams to different hosts/ports may be shaped to the same total bandwidth, much like a traffic shaping router would; however, this application runs in user space, and works by acting as a TCP proxy. TIS Firewall Toolkit Added 2001-10-22 The TIS Internet Firewall Toolkit is a set of programs and configuration practices designed to facilitate the building of network firewalls. Components of the toolkit, while designed to work together, can be used in isolation or can be combined with other firewall components. The toolkit software is designed to run on UNIX systems using TCP/IP with a Berkeley-style "socket" interface. Browse by category |
