It looks at "magic bytes" in file contents, so it can be used both as an undelete utility and for recovering a corrupted drive or partition. It works on any file system, but on very fragmented file systems it can only recover the first chunk of each file. These chunks are sometimes as big as 50MB, however. Net-SNMP Added 2004-03-23 The NET-SNMP (formerly UCD-SNMP) package contains various tools relating to the Simple Network Management Protocol including an extensible agent, an SNMP library, tools to request or set information from SNMP agents, tools to generate and handle SNMP traps, a version of the unix 'netstat' command using SNMP and a Tk/perl mib browser. It was originally based on the Carnegie Mellon University SNMP implementation (version 2.1.2.1), but has been greatly enhanced, ported and fixed and barely resembles the original package anymore. Zabbix Added 2004-03-23 Zabbix is software that monitors your servers and applications. Polling and trapping techniques are both supported. It has a simple, yet very flexible notification mechanism, and a Web interface that allows quick and easy administration. It can be used for logging, monitoring, capacity planning, availability and performance measurement, and providing the latest information to a helpdesk. Helios qmail Added 2004-03-22 Helios qmail is an advanced qmail distribution based on qmail-sql. It supports SMTP, SMTPS, POP3, POP3S, IMAP, and IMAPS services. It also features antivirus and antispam filters, antispoof, SMTP-AUTH, SMTP-after-POP/IMAP, a PHP5 API, and many other useful tools. Qingy Is Not Getty Added 2004-03-19 qingy is a replacement for getty. It uses DirectFB to provide a fast, nice GUI without the overhead of the X Windows System. It allows the user to log in and start the session of his choice (text console, GNOME, KDE, wmaker, etc.). filewatcher Added 2004-03-11 filewatcher is a Perl program that uses RCS to maintain a local file archive repository. A configuration file details which files and directories to monitor and to whom reports should be delivered. Prismstumbler Added 2004-03-11 Prismstumbler is software which finds 802.11 (W-LAN) networks. It comes with an easy to use GTK2 frontend and is small enough to fit on a small portable system. It is designed to be a flexible tool to find as much information about wireless LAN installations as possible. Because of its client-server architecture the scanner engine may be used for different frontends. amavisd-new Added 2004-03-09 amavisd-new is a high-performance and reliable interface between MTAs and one or more content checkers, including virus scanners, and/or the Mail::SpamAssasin Perl module. It talks to the MTA via (E)SMTP or LMTP, or by using helper programs. No timing gaps exist in the design, which could cause a mail loss. It is normally positioned at or near a central mailer, not necessarily where the user's mailboxes and final delivery takes place. Y Agent Added 2004-03-08 Y Agent is a monitoring data collection agent. It is a small daemon which runs on the monitored host and can return various operational data from the host on which it is running. You can connect to the agent through the HTTP protocol using a Web browser or with command line tools. The data can be received in HTML or (pipe separated) text. mode. It is configurable and extendable with external applications and scripts. Oculus Added 2004-03-08 Oculus (The Eye) is a server monitor that uses a plain-text protocol to report about the server it runs on. It features an XML style config file, a plain-text command-based query protocol, and plugin support. Browse by category |
