At its core, radmind operates as a tripwire. It is able to detect changes to any managed filesystem object, e.g. files, directories, links, etc. However, radmind goes further than just integrity checking: once a change is detected, radmind can optionally reverse the change. Each managed machine may have its own loadset composed of multiple, layered overloads. This allows, for example, the operating system to be described separately from applications. Loadsets are stored on a remote server. By updating a loadset on the server, changes can be pushed to managed machines. Portable OpenSSH Added 2004-04-19 This is a Unix/Linux port of OpenBSD's excellent OpenSSH. OpenSSH is a full implementation of the SSH1 protocol and a 99% implementation of the SSH 2 protocol, including sftp client and server support. Epylog Added 2004-04-14 Epylog is a log notifier and parser that periodically tails system logs on Unix systems, parses the output in order to present it in an easily readable format (parsing modules currently exist only for Linux), and mails the final report to the administrator. It can run daily or hourly. Epylog is written specifically for large clusters where many systems log to a single loghost using syslog or syslog-ng. Although Epylog can be used on standalone systems, other packages (like logwatch) are probably better suited for such purposes. Plugdaemon Added 2004-04-14 plugdaemon is a load-balancing "plug" proxy. It allows you to forward TCP connections to one or multiple hosts, using load balancing or failover, and to route the connections through an HTTPS proxy. Access control is done by source interface or by originating IP. Outgoing connections can be bound to a specific IP address. GNU Transport Layer Security Library Added 2004-04-14 GNU Transport Layer Security Library is a library which implements a secure layer over a reliable transport layer such as TCP/IP. It implements the TLS 1.0 and SSL 3.0 protocols. GnuTLS is available for beta testing. BBStatus Added 2004-04-12 BBStatus is an IP accounting package and an SNMP and IP monitoring tool for Linux. It collects, summarizes, and displays the values from its database. It can be used for IP accounting (allows you to design various kinds of accounting filters), SNMP monitoring (collects data making SNMP requests), ICMP monitoring (stores and summarizes values like min, avg, max reply time, and packet loss), and client traffic filtering (using various types of filters). It also provides user based access so that every user can log in and visualize various data (depending on access rights). It requires PostgreSQL, Apache with mod_auth_pgsql, Perl(Net::SNMP), and RRDTool. moftpd Added 2004-04-07 moftpd is a powerful FTP server supporting IPv6, virtual hosts, fine grained permissions, and much more. Telconi Terminal for Cisco IOS Added 2004-04-07 Telconi Terminal is an unique network management application with interactive full-screen configuration editing, browsing, help facility support, debugging, and more. It focuses on common Cisco IOS functionality present with any hardware or software configuration, and complements the command line interface with a rich set of features. It is intended for users with knowledge of Cisco IOS, and is designed to work with any IOS-based device, such as routers and switches. CG_spam_filter.pl Added 2004-04-07 CG_spam_filter.pl provides a content filter program for the Stalker CommuniGate Pro mail server that seeks to limit the number of outgoing spam your local users can send and incoming spam your system can receive. In essence, it is a throttling script that starts rejecting mail once a certain threshold is reached, such as X messages or recipients per minute. It is difficult to catch spammers until after the fact (when they have already done lots of damage and spammed many users); this is simply an effort to stop them in their tracks in real-time so you can deal with them later. monit Added 2004-04-05 monit is a utility for monitoring and managing daemons or similar programs running on a Unix system. It will start specified programs if they are not running and restart programs not responding. It supports a daemon mode (poll programs at a specified interval, and start, stop, and restart programs), logging (syslog or your own logfile), configuration (with a comprehensive controlfile) runtime and TCP/IP port checking, process status, and timeout and alert notification. It provides an HTTP interface. Browse by category |
