It is known to compile (with GCC and the IBM C compiler) and run under Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, MacOS X, AIX, and QNX. John the Ripper Added 2004-02-24 John the Ripper is a fast password cracker, currently available for many flavors of Unix (11 are officially supported, not counting different architectures), DOS, Win32, BeOS, and OpenVMS. Its primary purpose is to detect weak Unix passwords. It supports several crypt(3) password hash types which are most commonly found on various Unix flavors, as well as Kerberos AFS and Windows NT/2000/XP LM hashes. Several other hash types are added with contributed patches. Cyberduck Added 2004-02-12 Cyberduck is an SFTP (SSH Secure File Transfer) and FTP browser. It lets you open connections to multiple servers using a document-based interface. A simple "favorites" manager allows you to store frequently-used servers. Drag-and-drop is supported for both downloading and uploading files; just drag the file(s) or folder from the Finder to the browser window (or vice versa) to start the transfer. File deletion and renaming and checking and changing of permissions is possible with a Finder-like information panel. Jacksum Added 2004-02-02 Jacksum is a free checksum utility entirely written in Java. It supports most common checksum algorithms (Adler32, BSD sum, POSIX cksum, CRC-16, CRC-32, MD2, MD5, SHA, and Unix System V sum). MUTE File Sharing Added 2004-01-29 MUTE File Sharing is an anonymous, decentralized search-and-download file sharing system. Several people have described MUTE as the "third generation file sharing network" (From Napster to Gnutella to MUTE, with each generation getting less centralized and more anonymous). MUTE uses algorithms inspired by ant behavior to route all messages, include file transfers, through a mesh network of neighbor connections. Big Brother Added 2004-01-06 Big Brother is a combination of monitoring methods. Unlike SNMP where information is just collected and devices polled, Big Brother is designed in such a way that each local system broadcasts its own information to a central location. Simultaneously, Big Brother also polls all networked systems from a central location. This creates a highly efficient and redundant method for proactive network monitoring. slst Added 2003-12-12 slst generates statistics from the output of syslog. One can find tendencies and unexpected changes in the behaviour of the running processes. Firewall Builder for PIX Added 2003-12-09 Firewall Builder for PIX hides the complexity of PIX command line interface and automatically configures options and parameters that usually make manual configuration a real chore. With this module, the same workstation running Firewall Builder can create and manage security policy on Cisco PIX firewalls, as well as on firewalls built with iptables, OpenBSD pf, or ipfilter. GPGMail (v30) (10.3 (Panther)) Added 2003-11-14 GPGMail is a bundle for MailViewer.app (on MacOS X Server) and Mail.app (on MacOS X), providing a front-end to gpg for some operations. GPGMail extends Apple's MailViewer/Mail application and allows you to read and send PGP authenticated and/or encrypted messages. You can use PGP for plain and MIME messages, following RFC 2015 guidelines. Source code is available. Glub Tech Secure FTP Added 2003-11-05 Glub Tech Secure FTP is a command-line utility that allows FTP connections to be made using SSL. Browse by category |
