winpcap - NT
Added 2001-10-22
by Loris Degioanni, Piero Viano, Fulvio Risso, others - winpcap@netgroup-serv.polito.it
The packet capture driver is a device driver that adds to Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT and Windows 2000 the ability to capture and send raw packets in a way very similar to the Berkeley Packet Filter of UNIX kernels. Packet.dll is an API that can be used to access directly the functions of the BPF driver. WinPcap exports a set of primitives that are compatible with libpcap, the famous UNIX capture library. It offers a set of higher level functions to capture packets in a way independent from the underlying network hardware and operating system.

Hellkit

With hellkit you write your shellcodes in C, as shown in the 4 examples shipped with that package. You then run 'driver' over it and it's done! You get the output-file hellcode.c which contains the shellcode without null-bytes. Hellkit generates shellcodes with a lenght of up to 65535 (2^16 - 1) bytes.
Socket Script Lib

by Patrick Lambert, drow@post.com
Socket Script Lib is a simple library which can be used to create network-oriented software in C. It provides functions to do common socket features. It is based on the Socket Script scripting languaged created in 1997.
Libpcap

by Van Jacobson,Craig Leres and Steven McCanne, all of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
This is a handy little library which provides a packet filtering mechanism based on the BSD packet filter (BPF). Most notably, tcpdump needs this to work, and there is also a perl module (still in beta) which can use this as well. In plain english, if you want to write your own network traffic analyzer, this is the place to start.
NetPacket

by Tim Potter
NetPacket::* is a set of Perl modules which do disassembly of network packets of various Internet protocols. They are written and documented in standard Perl module fashion, and are easily extended and modified.
Ares

by G. Hudson
ARES is an asynchronous resolver library. This allows a programmer to write to a simple interface which provides asynchronous DNS lookup. This simplifies doing multiple simultaneous lookups from any program, eliminating the need to block for name queries, or speeding up name lookups.

This library provide all basic operations including payment requests, payments, deposits, withdrawels, opening accounts. This library requires the use of the SSLeay package and the Berkeley DB package.
Py-Libpcap
Added 2001-10-22
by Aaron Rhodes
This module allows Python functions to process packets captured with the libpcap library (used by tcpdump and many other packages.) It currently runs on Linux.
USI++

by Sebastian Krahmer, krahmer@cs.uni-potsdam.de
It is a low-level network-library for sending/receiving IP-packets directly on so called 'raw sockets'. It can be used for network-monitoring also. Since version 1.2 it uses the packet capture library libpcap that is a portable library for fetching network-traffic on the datalink-layer.
