The Autopsy Forensic Browser is an HTML-based graphical interface to The @stake Sleuth Kit (TASK). Together, TASK and Autopsy Forensic Browser are an open source alternative to the common Windows-based digital forensic tools. Autopsy provides an investigator with an HTML-based graphical interface that allows one to browse images from compromised systems in a "File Manager"-like interface. Windows and UNIX file systems can be analyzed to view deleted files, create time lines of file activity, and perform key word searches.

PALA (PHP Agent Log Analyzer) is a small and simple useragent-logger and analyzer. It can generate statistics over both OSes and browsers. It doesn't support standard Apache useragent logs, but it has its own logger included.

Apache Chunked Scanner

The Retina Apache Chunked Scanner is a tool created by eEye that is able to scan up to 254 IP addresses at once and determine if any are vulnerable to the recent Apache Chunked Encoding overflow. If an IP address is found to be vulnerable to the Apache Chunked Encoding attack, then the Retina Apache Chunked Scanner will flag the IP address. Administrators can then double-click on the IP address to be taken to a website with information on how to fix the vulnerability.

This is a firewall that takes advantage of tcp_wrappers information to block users. It also uses separate files for configuration ease. It is designed to work out of the box with eth0 for internet and eth1 for the LAN.

OpenAntivirus ScannerDaemon

ScannerDaemon is the virus scanner of the OpenAntivirus project. You can send a filename to it via simple TCP and it will scan the file for virii and tell you if the file is infected or not. The ScannerDaemon comes with its own virus database, so you do not need any commercial virus scanner. There is a plugin for AMaViS to scan all EMail going through a mail server.

QDPF was written to solve the problem of exposing internal services to the Internet. QDPF runs on machines which bridge two networks and forwards TCP/IP packets from one to the other. The main use of QDPF is to expose corporate or Intranet services to the Internet, by running it on an intervening machine. QDPF is a Java console application.

Castellan Sentry

The Castellan Sentry detects login attempts on SSH, and advises the desktop via a GUI popup window. This popup allows you to block the remote machine, ignore the login, or commit an investigation. Investigation reports back to you the nslookup, reverse DNS, ARIN, and a simple port scan via NMAP. This will help determine if the source should be blocked or not and gives you the option of doing either.
