phpDistributedPortScanner
Added 2001-10-22
by H.D. Moore, hdm@digitaloffense.net
phpDistributedPortScanner is a Web-based distributed TCP portscanner which uses plain PHP to perform distributed portscans against a single host. You can add new nodes just by uploading a tiny PHP script onto a Web server and adding a line to your master script to use it. Nodes are used in parallel and support multiple "threads" per node to increase your speed. It is portable and doesn't require shell access to use.

Scan Detect
Added 2001-10-22
by Ryan Mann, p019077b@pb.seflin.org
Scan Detect listens on a given TCP port. If a host connects to that port, it uses ipchains to block that host from connecting to your Linux system. To that host it would be like your system isn't connected to the Internet.

Fscan

by Foundstone, labs@foundstone.com
The fastest command line port scanner for Windows NT. Capable of scanning over 200 ports per second. TCP and UDP scanning available.

Strobe

by Julian Assange
Strobe is a network/security tool that locates and describes all listening tcp ports on a (remote) host or on many hosts in a bandwidth utilisation maximising, and process resource minimizing manner. Strobe approximates a parallel finite state machine internally. In non-linear multi-host mode it attempts to apportion bandwidth and sockets amoung the hosts very efficiently. This can reap appreciable gains in speed for multiple distinct hosts/routes.

ident-scan

by Dave Goldsmith
This TCP scanner has the additional functionality of retrieving the username that owns the daemon running on the specified port. It does this by by attempting to connect to a TCP port, and if it succeeds, it will send out an ident request to identd on the remote host. I believe this to be a flaw in the design of the protocol, and if it is the developers intent to allow 'reverse' idents, then it should have been stated clearer in the rfc(rfc1413).

NScan

by Acid Vision, acidvision@iname.com
NScan is an extremely fast and flexible portscanner, which is specially designed for scanning large networks and gathering related network/host information. All the information about host ports may be saved or automatically logged to a file with the different detail level and copied to clipboard in a different ways.

Overloaded Jport

by Snafu, snafu@overloaded.org
Jport is a port scanner written in Java that will scan upto 65535 ports in under 30 seconds. It also contains new features such as port identification and a compleatly new threading system that does not allow any thread to be idle, hence increasing speed.

SpiderMap
Added 2001-10-22
by H.D. Moore, hdm@secureaustin.com
Spidermap is a collection of perl scripts which enable you to launch precisely tuned network scans. The goal of this project is to create an integrated suite of tools for low-impact network reconnaisance with features including custom packet rates and scan types for each network with increased efficiency by mapping multiple networks in parallel. The target users are system administrators and network security professionals seeking a non-destructive way to inventory network services and do so in a reasonable amount of time.
