It is also a Ruby module which provides classes that make it easy to write programs that filter and deliver email. nProbe Added 2003-01-13 nProbe is a Netflow V5 probe characterized by portability to Unix and Windows environments, a small memory footprint (less than 2MB of memory regardless of the size of the network), and low CPU usage. It is designed for running in environments with limited resources. MAC Changer Added 2002-12-06 MAC Changer is a utility for viewing/manipulating the MAC addresses of network interfaces. It can set specific, random, vendor-based (with a 6000+ vendor list), and device-type-based MACs. Privman Added 2002-10-15 Privman is a library that makes it easy for programs to use privilege separation, a technique that prevents the leak or misuse of privilege from applications that must run with some elevated permissions. Applications that use it split into two halves, the half that performs valid privileged operations, and the half that contains the application's logic. It simplifies the otherwise complex task of separating the application, protecting the system from compromise if an error in the application logic is found. It uses configuration files to provide fine-grained access control for the privileged operations, limiting exposure in even of an attack against the application. When the application is compromised, the attacker gains only the privileges of an unprivileged user and the specific privileges granted to the application by the application's Privman configuration file. Secure Cryptographic Instant Messaging Added 2002-08-07 The Project SCIM application allows you to send Encrypted Instant Messages to your friends and other contacts. The software is free for non-commercial users and contains a load of cool features. WebJob Added 2002-07-30 WebJob downloads a program over HTTP/HTTPS and executes it in one unified operation. The output, if any, may be directed to the stdout/stderr or a Web resource. WebJob may be useful in incident response and intrusion analysis as it provides a mechanism to run known good diagnostic programs on a potentially compromised system. It can also support various host-based monitoring solutions. The @stake Sleuth Kit (TASK) Added 2002-07-29 The @stake Sleuth Kit (TASK) is the only open source forensic toolkit for a complete analysis of Microsoft and UNIX file systems. TASK enables investigators to identify and recover evidence from images acquired during incident response or from live systems. TASK is also open source, allowing investigators to verify the actions of the tool or customize it to specific needs. HenWen Added 2002-07-02 HenWen is a network security package for Mac OS X that makes it easy to configure and run Snort, a free Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS). HenWen's goal is to simplify setting up and maintaining software that will scan network traffic for undesirable traffic a firewall may not block. Everything you need to have is bundled in; there is no compiling or command line use necessary. HenWen is available in English and German. Roxy Proxy Added 2002-06-24 roxy proxy is a Web proxy load balancer. it is a "proxy for proxies" that load-balances incoming requests between proxy servers, detects faults, and measures the performance of its proxy servers. MailArmor Added 2002-06-10 MailArmor helps to keep your electronic mailbox free of spam: it looks at the relevant parts of your email before it leaves the mail server, and lets the legitimate messages pass through undisturbed, while leaving suspect messages on the server to be reexamined later or just deleted after a while.
