pam_passwdqc

pam_passwdqc is a simple password strength checking module for PAM-aware password changing programs, such as passwd(1). In addition to checking regular passwords, it offers support for passphrases and can provide randomly generated passwords. All features are optional and can be (re-)configured without rebuilding.

The mod_securid Apache module implements RSA SecurID authentication for the Apache Web server. It allows administrators to restrict access to Web sites (or parts of Web sites) to users authenticated using a SecurID token and an ACE server.

nefu

nefu (network fidelity utility) is a Unix daemon that monitors services over the network. It uses a "no false alarms" fault verification algorithm, and understands network dependancies. Natively-monitored protocols include ICMP echo (ping), DNS, HTTP, POP, NTP, IMAP, SMTP, and LDAP, as well as having facilities to execute external programs. Status pages are available via finger or the Web.

MAT

MAT is an easy-to-use network-enabled UNIX configuration and monitoring tool. It provides an integrated tool for many common system administration tasks, including backups and replication. It includes a warning system for potential system problems, and graphing of many common system parameters. MAT provides many of the tools a system administrator needs during the day, including DNS, NIS, Backups, and Replication. One can run a MAT command on many hosts at once. A simple editor window is provided which can modify a set of machine's configurations in one session.

Autossh

Autossh is a program to monitor and automatically reestablish SSH connections. It is similar to rstunnel (Reliable SSH Tunnel), however, it is implemented in C, and is easier to set up and use, especially for connections to multiple hosts. Autossh has been compiled and tested on OpenBSD, Linux, and Solaris, and should run without needing changes on FreeBSD and NetBSD.

Webmin Usermonitor

Webmin Usermonitor is a Webmin module that allows you to view all user connections to the system which are based on Telnet, SSH, or Samba. It is able to kill a user's connection or send a message to the user.

Steghide

Steghide is steganography program which hides bits of a data file in some of the least significant bits of another file in such a way that the existence of the data file is not visible and cannot be proven. Steghide is designed to be portable and configurable and features hiding data in bmp, wav and au files, blowfish encryption, MD5 hashing of passphrases to blowfish keys, and pseudo-random distribution of hidden bits in the container data.

flexbackup is a configurable and easy to use Perl-based backup tool, that can backup local files as well as remote machines (using ssh). It allows the backup itself to be made with afio, cpio, tar, dump, star, or pax. It can work with tape drives, on-disk archive files, or on-disk directory trees.

Big Brother Log Analyzer

The Big Brother Log Analyzer (BBLA) is package consisting of an HTTP logger and an HTML log analyzer, aimed at individual users who may not have administrative privileges on their Web server. BBLA is free, and does not require you to display any advertising banner on the tracked pages. There is no limit to the number of pages you can track, nor any restriction on its use. It is also lightweight (the tarball is less than 50 KB).
