It understands some protocols (including FTP, HTTP, and X11) and adds a descriptive name next to the entry (e.g., 'RETR cd8.iso', 'GET http://slashdot.org/' or 'xclock -fg blue'). The GNU Privacy Guard Added 2003-08-26 GnuPG (the GNU Privacy Guard) is GNU's tool for secure communication and data storage. It can be used to encrypt data and to create digital signatures. It includes an advanced key management facility and is compliant with the proposed OpenPGP Internet standard as described in RFC2440. As such, it is meant to be compatible with PGP from NAI, Inc. Because it does not use any patented algorithms, it can be used without any restrictions. Ups shutdown script Added 2003-08-22 Ups shutdown script is a set of bash scripts that can be used to monitor a SNMP UPS and shut down servers if the power goes out. One of the scripts can run on a monitoring server and will report back when a UPS has gone offline. pf2x Added 2003-08-22 pf2x is a PHP script that will take the output of your pflog and convert it into various different output formats. These output formats include plain text, XML, HTML, PDF, and MySQL INSERT statements for import into a MySQL database. This was developed and tested on OpenBSD 3.3 but should work for any system that uses PF. ngrep Added 2003-08-11 ngrep strives to provide most of GNU grep's common features, applying them to the network layer. ngrep a pcap-aware tool that will allow you to specify extended regular expressions to match against data payloads of packets. It currently recognizes TCP and UDP across ethernet, ppp and slip interfaces, and understands bpf filter logic in the same fashion as more common packet sniffing tools like tcpdump and snoop. Dante Added 2003-07-31 Dante is a free implementation of the proxy protocols socks version 4, socks version 5 (rfc1928), and msproxy. It can be used as a firewall between networks. The package consists of two parts, a socks server and a proxy client which supports socks, msproxy, and HTTP proxies. Commercial support is available. libdvdcss Added 2003-07-31 libdvdcss is a cross-platform library for transparent DVD device access with on the fly CSS decryption. It currently runs under Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, BSD/OS, Solaris, BeOS, Win98, Win2k and MacOS X. It is used for the vlc DVD player because of its portability and because, unlike similar libraries, it does not require your DVD drive to be region-locked. Rate Added 2003-07-25 Rate is a Swiss-Army-knife bandwidth measurement tool. Its primary application is calculating the bandwidth used by packets matching a given BPF packet filter expression, which can really help a network administrator see what is happening at a software-based router at the moment. Administrators can measure the traffic generated by a single host or by a whole subnet, and measure HTTP traffic, broadcast traffic, quake traffic, etc. It can also be used for generating per-IP statistics and for determining nodes that generate highest traffic; it has a special operation mode for it. Additionally, it is able to extract strings from packets based on a POSIX regular expression. chkrootkit Added 2003-06-24 chkrootkit is a tool to locally check for signs of a rootkit. It contains a chkrootkit: shell script that checks system binaries for rootkit modification. The following tests are made: aliens, asp, bindshell, lkm, rexedcs, sniffer, wted, z2, amd, basename, biff, chfn, chsh, cron, date, du, dirname, echo, egrep, env, find, fingerd, gpm, grep, hdparm, su, ifconfig, inetd, inetdconf, identd, killall, login, ls, mail, mingetty, netstat, named, passwd, pidof, pop2, pop3, ps, pstree, rpcinfo, rlogind, rshd, slogin, sendmail, sshd, syslogd, tar, tcpd, top, telnetd, timed, traceroute, and write. ifpromisc.c checks whether the interface is in promiscuous mode, chklastlog.c checks for lastlog deletions, chkwtmp.c checks for wtmp deletions, check_wtmpx.c checks for wtmpx deletions (Solaris only), and chkproc.c checks for signs of LKM trojans. Sudoscript Added 2003-06-24 Sudoscript is a pair of Perl scripts (sudoscriptd/sudoshell) that provide an audited root shell using sudo. Browse by category |
