Some questions you need to ask yourself.

Maybe one of the proxy servers got poisoned and not the DNS server?

Maybe it's a HTTP Response Splitting attack?

We have seen a similar issue awhile ago and it was caused by a mistake of a developer and not by malicious activity...

Anyone else seeing a spike in 1234 traffic?

That traffic could be subseven, or Infoseek Search Agent, or some
trojans, etc. I was just wondering of anyone else is seeing a spike..

We have a steady increase in mail since the beginning of October. The
difference between then and now is about 23% more

All from outside -> in..
I've been averaging about 110K-130K emails per days, with about 4-5K
allowed thru as being considered valid. Knock 10% off the delivered
amount for false negatives (delivered but are really spam). Rest are
spam or invalid recipients and viruses.
