Temp directory is odd 2008-03-10

Hello

I have a few questions about the "C:\Documents and
Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files",
directory..
I know whats there, and what its for, but this directory is not like
every other directories. It have filenames with "/" chars in it, I
cannot make these files manual, or

Some considerations in log storage.

Are you going to encrypt the data? Logs have sensitive information.

If you encrypt the data - are you going to store this on tapes?

This is an important point as tapes degrade and encryption is not forgiving to errors.

As was stated, step one is to understand your environment.

Other then legal requirements - there are regulatory and contractual. An example is PCI-DSS. S 10.7 states "Retain audit trail history for at least one year, with a minimum of three months online availability."

enVision is appliance-based. Their main application server is a hardened Windows Server 2003 environment, they use their own proprietary database, and I don't know exactly what they use for the collectors, but I know it works (very well!). However, you get what you pay for. For that kind of setup
