The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is having some homeland cyber security issues on its systems providing remote access to telecommuters, according to a newly-released report by the DHS Inspector General's office.

And there is never an excuse to not have a patch installed. Running the patch through "testing" is never an excuse. You can test and test and test, but if someone gets root on your box while you are "testing" it really didn't do any good then, did it? You need to at least have a work around of some sort.
I can't think of any system that makes it impossible to force a complex passwd. If nothing else, use generated passwds and don't allow your users to change them.
I feel safer....
