Don't download every friggin house uploaded to the exchange! You don't download every attachment that is sent to your e-mail, and if you do, you're an idiot. Don't blame something that is entirely the fault of stupid people on modders.
As of Open for Business, a scanner is now included that allows you to delete/disable custom content, including hacks (which are often the same as game object files).
Also, install CleanInstaller. Believe it or not, it's a SAFE program that allows you to delete or at least not install objects that YOU DON'T WANT.
I like how they neglect to mention that many hacks are actually bug fixes that Maxis refuses to fix in their "official patches."
