Quote: "Creators of hacks and houses had no way of knowing that their hacks would be added to house packages."
Any self respected "cracker" would know how their cracks influenced the game. The amount of time spent getting a crack to work, I'd be shocked to see a real cracker miss something like the house packaging downloads as well.
And before you doze off, I ask this; is it THAT hard to remove all cracks BEFORE distributing a packaged house? Afterall, if there was a decent programmer behind it, you only need to remove it from the downloads folder.
Now it is NOT EA's fault that the packager isn't as precise as you expect it to be. Probally because you don't understand WHY it is like that.
Lets use an "obvious" problem. Someone made a pack that adds new aspirations... now if you don't have these "aspirations" installed, the game won't recognize the values and probally won't work. Similarly, some game "items" have attached scripts that become associated with any sim that uses the item, even if it is destroyed. Let alone that ANY script (hack/crack/WE) that runs, might place variables in the save files.
Of course, running a script in one house, and ONLY one house, does NOT mean it will only STAY in that one house. If you have a script that leaves vars on the sims then visitors will ALSO contract that script, and who are the two most frequent visitors? The Mailman and the Paperboy.
Now EA CAN be blamed for being retarded, any decent programmer would discard any variables not used, remove refrences to non-existant objects, and generally clean up the mess... but appearently EA didn't (Probally just wanted to force people to get the expansions if distributing content). If all scripts get transfered, even if they don't leave residues, then you could blame EA for not backtracking variables (If they left refrence tags it's a simple job... else, it could take a while). But inspite of that, MORE blame can be placed on the wannabe crackers and the noob players.
In Laymens terms, "haxors" (idiots) who distribute cracks are responsible for destroying a neighborhood. Smart crackers make their cracks so removing the script causes no harm to the game (simply clear the downloads folder). Haxors sort of... don't. Now they have their reasons... I mean reason... cracking is soooooo HARD. With the "auto-abuduction" example, it is MUCH easier to overwrite the telescope script than to try to refrence a script with the Telescope Object without changing anything. (Of course, adding in a NEW Telescope with attached script is probally even easier). Doing stupid things is allways 'easier' and that is typically why the Haxors end up screwing your game up.
And noob players are just as guilty... Now I don't mean the newbies who don't know exactally how to play... I mean the idiots who ask every question POSSIBLE to ask, download every crack, hack, and script they can... scream "hot coffee", and overall prove their idiocy. I mean, seriously, "How do you take off the pixelation? I am tired of my computer slowing down everytime it goes on." newsflash, if you want porn, type porn into google (and it's just pixel shading... I think, not THAT high process). You can clearly see how these players infect other players (since you SHOULD expect cracks in each download, you also can be blamed, a bit, for not being smart enough to check).
