Feds square off with organized cyber crime

SAN FRANCISCO--Computer intruders are learning to play well with others, and that's bad news for the Internet, according to a panel of law enforcement officials and legal experts speaking at the RSA Conference here Thursday.

opinions like this really bother me .....

It's precisely this kind of thinking that is why these cyber criminals have a virtually free for all out there today. If ethical hacking like breaking into something then reporting the vulnerabilities to the sysadmin and helping them patch things up were actually encouraged instead of something that could land you in jail then there would be far less gatorbait machines out there today.

It was a simpler time and the government destroyed it for themselves.

How about instead of arresting people the big companies put a bounty out that says "If you find an exploitable vulnerability and report it to us/help us fix it we will pay you"

That would encourage cooperation instead of having this stuff show up in forums and magazines.... or maybe headlines
