Burned by ChoicePoint breach, potential ID theft victims face a lifetime of vigilance
Rachel Konrad, The Associated Press 2005-02-24

Warren Lambert thought it was just another piece of junk mail until he read the letter more closely and learned that con artists may have obtained his Social Security number, name and address -- just what they need to steal his identity and ruin his credit.

ID theft is horrible. It should be punished at it's maximum. Many peoples lives have been ruined by those who either stole identification themselves or bought stolen identification. There shouldn't be a difference in the eyes of the laws either (even though I am sure there is.) Those who are caught with ID they purchased from someone should be held JUST as accountable as those who have stolen/used ID themselves.
