25yo who grew up with computers
ive grown up with the home computer industry, there wasnt a time when we didnt have one at home. However i had some very decent and forward thinking parents, other than a curfew i had no actual rules.

And because i had nothing forced onto me, and my parents respected my intelligence and common sense, they felt they could trust me.

And they could.

parents who look at isolated incidents of internet predators and security crime and use them as reasons to limit a childs growth are wrong.

Rather than scaremongering you should inform and teach your kids about what can/may happen and let them take the steps to prevent that.

That being said im not saying stay out of their lives because people can and do make mistakes, moreso when we are younger because we dont have the benefit of experience.

But when the time comes and they know they have made a mistake with something they will come to you for advice rather than try to hide it or solve it on their own.
