With that, I believe(that is to say...'my opinion') that *nix gives the administrator more to work with. I can't change kernel features, and disable things that I don't need directly in the kernel on M$ platform, I have to make registry and policy changes. I can edit source for many things I need on the OSS/FS side. I have greater access to the core of the system with Unix, and variants.
Anyway, keep in mind that regardless of the OS, don't think you are safe, because as soon as you do, someone is reading your email.......
