ARLINGTON, Virginia -- Insider attacks and industrial espionage could become more stealthy by hiding malicious code in the core system functions available in a motherboard's flash memory, researchers said on Wednesday at the Black Hat Federal conference.

This information is remarkable to me. I don't understand why there is even a debate about bios rootkits, if this information is correct. I am researching this because I am having symptoms like the aforementioned, also passed on a linksys network. I also think that a linux virtual machine is the culprit. I don't understand what to do. Just throw away my current PC's and start over. Any Ideas???
