Blue Security folds under spammer's wrath
Robert Lemos, SecurityFocus 2006-05-17

Israeli anti-spam startup Blue Security decided on Tuesday to shutter its aggressive anti-spam service, citing threats of further--and more malicious--attacks on its service and users.

Yes, we can get rid of SPAM. And it is actually quite simple. It has been thought of before and should be brought back into the limelight. Only legitamate companies willing to be scrutinized can have access to the relay ports by large ISP's. This removes the so called SPAM bot net. Then the companies that now are allowed to utilize SMTP ports now monitor activities of their own users, say no more than 5-10 recipients per email and only so many large recipient emails per day. True a spammer can open many accounts, but this task is much harder to automate. Not just that but if complaints start coming back the account can be deleted. ISP's have the power and the control. But for some reason, they do nothing but sit back and watch us bitch and complain. ISP's can curb SPAM. Make them more accountable. They have the ability to make change, the resource to do it, and the money to make it all happen. By God, $40 a month for DSL or cable. With 40+ million subscribers in the US alone, that is a nice pocketbook. Screw the government, they have no interest in stopping the SPAM unless it makes them money, and there is no profit in shutting it down. Money motivates, therefore complain to the people that you subscribe to. Eventually they will get the message.

Peace
