While USB drives are a threat I think there is a lot of hype surrounding them and bigger issues go unnoticed. Encryption and password protection is important for any mobile workforce. An unencrypted laptop drive or a blackberry without a password would likely provide more useful information to a thief than the contents of a USB drive. Personally I think that the biggest threat from USB drives is losing them out of your pocket without encryption. If 100% of your employees take company laptops home you have bigger problems than just USB drives since almost all your data walks out the door every day.
