AT&T privacy policy overreaches, lawyers say

A recent change to AT&T's privacy policy for broadband and video users is overbroad and likely will leave the courts or Congress to decide whether the company's practices are standard or sinister, legal experts said this week.

Where is the class action suit against AT&T for this? If they can change the policy like this at will, and as a customer you are still bound by any changes you might not have agreed to what's to prevent other abuses? I'd at the very least like to be let out of my Cingular contract for such a major change.

I cannot see how this can be legal. I'm sure other companies will be looking at this soon too. When will medical records become the property of my insurance company, or bank records? What privacy can we expect if contracts can be changed at will and we have no recourse when they are changed?
