Security pro pleads guilty to USC breach

Security professional Eric McCarty plead guilty in United States District Court in Los Angeles on Tuesday, admitting that he intentionally exploited a flaw in the online student application Web site of the University of Southern California, federal prosecutors said.

Anyone know why the school didn't admit him? I do not agree with them prosecuting him. I think they did so to save face. Just like the government is/was trying to do with Gary Mckinnon. Instead of hiring top notch people to run their networks, they hire incompetent morons. I used to be a blackhat, although, admittedly, I'm no expert. However, I kept thinking at the time, the network admins of these colleges that I'd exploit were morons. Blocking access to a few ports at their border router would have stopped 90% of the bot activity. How do these morons get tech jobs?
