E-voting worries focus on failures, not fraud
Robert Lemos, SecurityFocus 2006-11-10

At least now we won't be seeing all those 'voting machines are so insecure' articles, since now the media won't have a motivation to cast doubt on the election. Voting machines are full of vulnerabilities, but better security wasn't what most commentators were concerned about. What they wanted was to delegitimize a possible Republican victory. That became only too obvious when the (Rep) governor of Maryland tried to get machines replaced with paper ballots - the 2/3 Dem legislature said "no how, now way". Why remove your excuse for a possible loss? I've been expecting articles like this one ever since Tuesday night, and I'm sure this won't be the last.
