"However, Maynor's latest presentation, which was the focus of this article, was not on generic wireless flaws but in Apple's response to the specific wireless flaws allegedly shipped as part of its products."
So you're saying that what he showed last year and what he showed recently are two different things that are not really related to one another. That what Maynor is showing now is not about him wanting to vindicate himself vis a vis last year's demo (because there's nothing to vindicate?), but rather highlighting a new issue.
Hmm. But then why is the general line of the piece seemingly alluding to a continuation of Maynor's original demo?
I've read about Maynor and he sounds like a decent guy as well as respected in the security community. But he's also, I suspect, adept at using PR - he's just set up on his own, correct? And new businesses need all the exposure it can get. Not saying that it's the reason he's chosen to stretch this thing, but as a business partner surely he realises that they could use all the publicity they could get.
Or do you believe that his pattern of actions surrounding this issue indicates that he's been altruistic all along?
