Vancouver, CANADA -- Shane Macaulay strode into the conference hall at the CanSecWest conference on Friday afternoon, balancing a MacBook Pro on his palm and making a beeline for the table displaying two more of the silver laptops.

Actually, Dai Zovi later clarified that the vulnerability appears to be in the Java support in Mac OS X, which would mean that it would also affect Firefox users.

Since the claims of security researchers overwhelmingly using Macs has come up before, I did a few unscientific counts of the number of Mac laptops at the conference, and got numbers anywhere from 25 to 40 percent. Definitely not a majority.

However, that is much more than the average market share of the Mac OS X.
