Court filings double estimate of TJX breach

Significant security shortcomings led to the data breach at retail giant TJX -- a breach which credit-card companies now say compromised more than 94 million accounts, according to court documents made public on Thursday.

If the card data wasn't retained, AS IF the intruders wouldn't have caught it as it was captured for processing anyway. Admittedly more involved, however not by any means difficult, regardless of location of the source of capture. The banks are kidding themselves, TJX merely provided less deterrence than the banks would have liked to see and TJX cannot be held responsible for the mass fraud.
