One day in May 2005, a 16-year-old hacker named "SoBe" opened his front door to find a swarm of FBI agents descending on his family's three-story house in Boca Raton, Florida. With an arm and leg in casts from a recent motorcycle accident, one agent grabbed his good arm while others seized thousands of dollars worth of computers, video game consoles and other electronics. His parents looked on.

The fact is, this kid didn't have any form of guidance (valued principles) while he grew up. He didn't want to pay the price to take the legit path in life. That is, to get a degree, earn a living the honest way. (He even said so himself!)
Instead, he was seduced into "instant cash", superiority/power of control, and tried to rationalize his behaviour. He was seriously bored and didn't have much in terms of life goals.
All this could have been prevented if his parents took the time to steer him in the right direction. He certainly had a talent with computer systems. But his undoing was his greed and arrogance.
What does this all say? If he paid the price in the short term (get an education), he wouldn't have been in this mess in the long term.
