Legal experts wary of MySpace hacking charges
Robert Lemos, SecurityFocus 2008-05-16

On October 16, 2006, 13-year-old Megan Meier fled from her family's computer, distraught over the cutting comments of her supposed "friends" on MySpace. Twenty minutes later, the troubled teen was dead; she had hung herself in her closet.

Yes, I have ice water running in my veins. The callousness comes from the fact that this was all over a myspace account. It's not even real. Come on, what ever happened to common - freaking - sense?

I agree that it is sad what happened. But it's sad for more than one reason.

It's sad that a person lost their life.

It's sad that an adult is lame enough to rank on someone that is half her age. Hell, probably a third. I mean, if you can't rank on someone your old age, because you're not intellectually able to, then you shouldn't do it at all...

It's sad that this person wasn't strong enough to realize, IT'S A GODDAMNED MYSPACE ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!

It's mostly sad though, because her parents failed her!

If this were my child, I would be devistated. Don't get me wrong. But I wouldn't necessarily be pointing fingers at anyone else. It's time that we stop placing blame and pointing fingers. If you want to point a finger, turn that bad boy around and evaluate yourself. What is it that the parents did/didn't do that could have fixed this??? THEY SHOULD BE POINTING THEIR FINGERS AT THEMSELVES. THE PARENTS, IF ANYONE, SHOULD BE PROSECUTED FOR NEGLECT!

But hey, we live in the country where you can be stupid enough to burn yourself with a cup of coffe, which we all know, unless Iced, coffe is pretty hot - and then win millions.

We live in a country where you can break into my house. I hurt you, permanently. Now I'm prosecuted for maiming you. Even though you had no business being in my house in the first place.

Let's no continue this trend. Let's start to act like adults here and stop pointing fingers.
