Microsoft hopes free security means less malware 2008-12-02

Microsoft has proven with it's past takeovers of other services that ANYTHING they touch becomes a gateway for their own malware, without any hope of the user stemming the flow without removing the programs...and even they you need to be a fairly decent programmer to figure out how to remove the bugs left behind out of your system. So it is no wonder that other security companies are growing as they strive to address security issues caused by Microsoft. Why would a user have any confidence in a Microsoft security product? "Free" is just a euphamism for "opportunity to brainwash your system".

However in the developing countries where there are apparantly many security issues, Microsoft can make huge inroads for future profits by becoming the "free" answer to the problems, even if they are the ones creating them.
