What past practice would that be - breaking Netscape's monopoly in the browser? In a very short time, Microsoft has built a best-in-class malware team and their product has as good a track record as any of the established 'security' vendors, if not a bit better. For malware that is emerging or just released, no vendor has better than 50% detection rates with averages for all the big players in the 40's or less - depending on who measures. My teams own measures puts them around 40%.

Your 'better product' line shows you have no idea what is going on in this space. Back to /. with you.
