to the network and that's the reason he performed
the scan... talking to the netadmin might have giving
him the proper info that he needed, but scanning
would reveal what actually was on the network...
In any case, as with any crafty sysadmin or
hacker (not crackers), curiousity and wish
to do a good thorough job got the best of him...
