DFAST is a content scrambling system for digital cable. Can DeDFAST be far behind?

This may seem like sci-fi to some, but I can see the entertainment industry becoming increasingly entwined/entagled in the government. We've seen in the past year reports coming out about how the US government filtering Hollywood scripts and implanting anti-drug messages (to which I'm not sure I completely object!) in the dialogue. There's a good chance that all of our rights (not privelleges as some would like us to beleive) dealing with free speech and fair use, as well as keeping out private info indeed *private* (read the Fourth Amendment-- Good Stuff!) will soon go the way of Ken Starr-- with a dying whisper but not without great tumult raised beforehand.

Good luck being able to keep free speech alive on the Net in three years. As "pay-to-surf" is enacted, the "common carrier" status of ISPs and portals will be voided and an increasing number of filters (drawing on others' ethical standards) will be used to keep language and thought clean in the place (according the the Defense Department) called the Internet.

Support EFF, EPIC and CDT!!!
