There goes the constitution 2001-01-01

This is truly sad for our constitutional rights. The Supreme Court has upheld the fair use act for years. To now see that we will be limited to what we are able to record is truly sad. This appears to be a ploy to make even more money off of consumers, even though on average a digital cable subscription is in excess of $50.00/month.

Just like the DVD thing, online piracy of copyrighted content in digital form is ludicrous. The shear size of the file would hamper its distribution. I hate to break it to this sector of the industry, but people with broadband access is clearly a small minority.

When it comes down to it, the industry is just trying to find a way to justify their actions. They want to be able to look themselves in the mirror every night, and be able to deal with what they see staring back at them. They try to justify themselves to the point where they believe it.

Clearly, the consumer is harmed in the matter, while the cable industry makes even more profit. Maybe they would like to share their research with the public.
