Each day thousands of new Linux or other OSes with mail send and receive capabilities are installed, if ISP's have to filter each of those connections, they would have a full time job doing this.
The question what is next?
Is the BSA asks ISP's to filter out FTP services which have copyrighted material on them, are they going to filter FTP servers?
And after that, they would going to filter HTTP servers, because there have some information on them where someone is complaining about.
And after that they are going to filter messenger software because someone is spamming using those kind of application.
Well isn't better to filter al possible connections, and let the ISP decide which kind of communication is suitable for you, they would moderated each tcp/ip packet that comes to your servers & clients.
Well it would create allot of new jobs, so it must be a good idea ;-)
