ISP's should have the right to do what they wish with their bandwidth...Within the Acceptable Use policy that they agreed to when they purchased their bandwidth from their upstream. If John doesn't like it, he can find another provider that will allow him to use an open relay.

If I own an ISP (Which I do), and I want to set guidelines on what I will allow on my network, that's my business. If the customer doesn't like my "Restrictions", then they can find another provider. There are plenty of people that do like having spam filtered...We DON'T filter spam, we feel that is up to the end user, but we DO NOT run an open relay.

If John ran QMAIL w/QPopper, he could allow his mail users to connect from anywhere and send mail...They would just have to use a valid account...This is what we do, and I don't think that's restrictive at all.

I love it when SPAMMER's put an 800 number to call for information...Set up a war dialer, let it dial for a few days, and watch thier bill run up!
