Certainly SPAM is a waste of time, and also a waste of resources (bandwidth and time). But I agree with the analogy to telemarketers. Very similarly, they waste your time and attention, but the regulations need to penalize and legislate those responsible for the SPAM. Whether you deem SPAM a major or minor inconvenience, are you willing to sacrifice your freedom and liberty over it?

When ISP's are fighting to be held non-responsible for the actions of those who use and abuse their services, it seems unbelievable that an ISP would say that they are responsible for what through their network. They are just asking for someone to use it as precedant that they can and should monitor and control the ideas and content sent through their system. And if they are setting themselves up for this, it ultimately will come back as a lack of freedom for all.

Might as well let the US Post Office track what the content of our letters are before they will let us mail them.
