DEA Data Thief Sentenced to 27 Months

A 14-year veteran of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) who fled to Mexico to avoid federal computer crime charges was sentenced in a federal court in Los Angeles on Monday to 27 months in prison for selling information on private citizens he plundered from sensitive law enforcement databases.

I think this is a total sham...IT disgusts me to the nth degree that a federal law enforcement agent would breach his duties and provide this information. And with only a 2year measly sentence...Can you say commute? I am sure that the money he earned is sitting is some bank in belieze and accruing interest.

Maybe this should be a call to all federal law enforcement agencies, to review their own security practices and means of investigation and capabilities they have at their disposal.

All that I ask is that this jerk be thrown into Gen Pop, with some of the folks he helped convict or gather evidence on! How much do you want to bet if this were someone off the streets they would be strung out to dry.

Another great decision by our court system...Unfortunately this got little if no press...
