DEA Data Thief Sentenced to 27 Months

A 14-year veteran of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) who fled to Mexico to avoid federal computer crime charges was sentenced in a federal court in Los Angeles on Monday to 27 months in prison for selling information on private citizens he plundered from sensitive law enforcement databases.

5yrs. & $5,000 fine is all that the punishment is for this crime. Granted he did not get 60mos., but consider the 6mos. spent as a fugitive and the trial. I am sure he is sorry for his crime. Especially if $22.5k is all that changed hands.. (what a sucker.)

Sadly, though, all this information is still available to anyone with the skills. ;)

Anyway, he is ruined and won't ever get a job again for this stupid act. The insurance co. probably is the one who turned hime in.
