Who forgot about voice? 2001-04-26
Kris Spinka
With all of the communications developments, past and currently in progress, voice will still remain an important medium for years to come. There is only one reason (excuse) I can possibly imagine for the lack of a per session encryption system for audio communications. This includes both "land line" and mobile phone sets. To clarify, I mean set to set encryption, without regard to the networks, terrestrial, RF, or otherwise, inbetween. This reason is simply the corporate fear of government legislation destroying the viability of such products at the mass consumer scale. Ever wonder how much audio you have expelled into a public telephone network? You can probably be sure that a good percentage of it is archived somewhere.
