My first RSA Conference
Kevin Mitnick, special to SecurityFocus 2001-04-30

Ten thousand attendees, 250 vendor booths, and, still, something was missing.

Good SANS Conference Security 2001-05-01

Thinking about conference security in general, I've noticed that the SANS conferences seem to do a good job in this area. Maybe not on the vendor floor but in the areas where it counts (the paid for training rooms), these guys over do it. I had several instances where the "door man" chased me down because my badge was backwards. I was fairly impressed.

On the more devious side, it would have been a no brainer for us to have purchased one pass and then performed some creative photocopying to recreate a pass with a new name. Short of bar code scanning and picture ID or a electronic device (which of course drives up the costs) its pretty difficult to stop.

Any inexpensive ideas that don't slow down access too much?
