Kevin Mitnick, special to SecurityFocus 2001-04-30

Ten thousand attendees, 250 vendor booths, and, still, something was missing.

So let me get this straight.

Kevin pled guilty to several computer related crimes, so now he is forever deemed "untrustworthy". And most of all, we should question even listening to him because he was the computer bad boy.

Your thinking sounds quite shortsighted to me. The value of the information is not diminished because of Kevin's criminal background. To the contrary, the guy had years of practical experience circumventing security systems.

Apparently, the U.S. Senate sought Kevin's testimony despite his criminal history and his recent release from prison last year. I suppose Senator's Thompson and Lieberman had open minds.

It sounds to me like you take issue with Kevin being given the opportunity to voice his opinion in a well-respected forum such as security focus. And just maybe, you have not.
