Feds seek public input on hacker sentencing
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2003-01-13

Sick and tired of a revolving door justice system that lets hackers skate with just a few measly years in prison? Or do you think that the courts are already too hard on online miscreants who sometimes go up the creek for longer than many killers?

So many times I have seen people cause millions, if not billions, of dollars of damage with virus' and/or other forms of hacking and just get slapped on the wrist! Just the fact that this continues to happen shows that the laws are not even close to though enough! If you got to spend 5 years in a state pen (not just some cute little locked house) I'm talking the state pen where you ate lunch with murderers.... you would certinally think twice about hacking of any kind! Until we really inforce someone like this you will never be able to stop this endless barrage of attacks! Trust me if you starting to inforce this and really cracked down... you would see this problem start to disapper. But so many people keep saying things like: "It's not like they killed anyone." And or course they are right.... but they cause such a huge loss of time and money for people that it has to be punished!

Thanks again for looking for input from us all!

-Mr. Smith
