Feds seek public input on hacker sentencing
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2003-01-13

Sick and tired of a revolving door justice system that lets hackers skate with just a few measly years in prison? Or do you think that the courts are already too hard on online miscreants who sometimes go up the creek for longer than many killers?

WHOAAA there Bucko......

I've been a well known hacker since the very beginnings of hackers and there has never yet been a consensus, even by the hacker community, of the definition of what a hacker is!

I too have thought about this for decades and I've been in

the very middle hackers and their culture since hacking started. Closest definition of a hacker I've thought of is:

HACKER....one that changes something to make it other than what was intended.

My definition had a lot of old timers on the 2600 H2K2 list

concurring when this same subject came up again last year before HOPE in NYC. Even though it has so far had the highest concurrance among hackers and was hashed around a lot, I still don't think it exactly has the right ring to it. Yet it does cover all the bases in a short and simple manner with multiple layers of nuances as it should

have and it was written to forever be controversial regarding my intentions of its meaning.

I'm throwing it out here and welcome modifications or your comments....good or bad.

Nuff Said-

Bootleg
